Since the release of her first album in 2009, Genevieve Toupin has been a breath of musical fresh air. Her unique brand of folk/pop has garnered her fans and awards, including the Western Canadian Music Award for Francophone Album the Year. Now, with her new stage name and CD Willows, the artist explores and honours her family, linguistic duality, and her Métis and Franco-Manitoban roots. She sings in French punctuated with English phrases and a bit of Ojibwa. The name “Willows” is from of a small ghost town in Saskatchewan, a place that inspires her and reflects the distinctive feel of her music.
