The streets are ours, carved out of other people’s property. It is this public space which makes our neighbourhoods into safe and interesting communities, or can isolate us in our homes and cars. Their design impacts our experience of the world. Do not miss Leanne Christie’s first exhibition exploring streets as expressions of public life.
Leanne Christie
With brushwork that dances on the edge of abstraction, Leanne Christie’s work is a revelation, revealing an intuitive and insightful understanding of the painting language. Educated at the influential Rhodes University art school, Leanne was not only tutored in “the painting” as a final product, but instilled with the love of the process itself. Since becoming a full time artist in 2008, her developing maturity with the medium has led her to experiment with the hierarchy of brushstroke, composition and colour – her work easily identifiable by her sensitive myriad of greys.
