Welcome! Bienvenue à la 32ème édition du Festival du Bois
Welcome to Festival du Bois 2021! We’re so happy you’ve chosen to join us for a festival à la cabane. This year, we're reaching out to invite everyone in their own homes and spaces, in their own cabanes, to sit back and enjoy the Festival du Bois in a whole new way – virtually and for free!
For over thirty years, Festival du Bois has been proud to present the music and culture of French Canada and from the francophone world in Maillardville, a BC community settled by French Canadian loggers and their families over 100 years ago. Our community has powered a yearly event that welcomes folks of all ages, cultures and backgrounds to Coquitlam’s Mackin Park for a weekend of great live music and dance, fabulous food, performances for kids, fun activities – and to experience its special spirit of warmth and vitality, its joie de vivre.
Our goal this year is to bring some of that unique and joyful Festival du Bois spirit to you in your cabane. Artists from BC and across the country have created concerts and performances especially for you. Click on their links here to hear some truly entertaining chats and see them play their music – almost like you were in le Grand Chapiteau in Mackin Park. Kids of all ages will enjoy visiting our children’s programming page on the site, the Petit Chapiteau, for delightful shows, stories, readings - and more than a few surprises. Please enjoy a range of fascinating and entertaining videos too!
For those of you experiencing the festival for the first time, please explore and discover! For returning fans, thanks for coming back and joining this year’s unique virtual festival experience.
Have a wonderful time, everyone. We look forward to seeing you all in Mackin Park in 2022!
Joanne Dumas, Executive and Artistic Director
APPRECIATION
There are many to thank for making this, our 32nd Festival du Bois, possible.
We offer our appreciation to the Government of Canada, the BC Arts Council, the City of Coquitlam and our many supporters.
Thanks to all the festival artists who dove whole-heartedly into the making of this festival, embracing our aim to create their own online concert experience as close as possible to the friendly and warm musical engagement we are all used to having at the festival.
DEDICATION
We dedicate the 2021 festival to some people we miss very much this year – the volunteers who work so hard to make Festival du Bois a magical place to spend an early spring weekend.
