Monsieur André

Monsieur André (André Thériault) shares his passion, with songs, spoons and dance, for the festive and musical atmosphere that animates the sugar shacks of Québec. Armed with his guitar and harmonica and a repertoire of original tunes and traditional Francophone and Canadian songs, Mr. André makes children of all ages sing, dance and laugh. He presents a unifying and interactive show – an intergenerational show – focused on the participation of young and old from start to finish. (Performed mostly in French)

Isabelle la Wonderful 

Isabelle la Wonderful takes you on a magical trip to her sugar shack! Wearing her ceinture fléchée (traditional French-Canadian sash) and using her magic wand, Isabelle presents an engaging and fun video experience on the theme of the sugar season! Song, dance, magic, humor – there is something for every taste here! Join Isabelle la Wonderful's "Sucré Party", and satisfy your sweet tooth! (Performance in French only)

Story Time with Frenchie the Clown

The book “Be you!” celebrates with joy individuality and the importance of staying true to YOU! This brilliant text reminds us that each child is unique and special. It reminds readers to "be your own work of art” by being patient, persevering, sincere ... just themselves. Frenchie le Clown will read us this book in French and in English, for the pleasure of all!

Jacques et l'accordéon magique

As a tribute to the sugar season, Festival du Bois presents this special stop motion video entitled "Jacques and the Magic Accordion". It illustrates how traditional music and French culture are renewed every year in village festivals across the country - even here in Maillardville!

This family production was directed by 12-year-old Franco-Colombian artist, Aaliyah Tavernari. The accompanying song was generously provided by musician Roger Dallaire.

Jacques, the logger, discovers a mysterious accordion that magically awakens the long-awaited sweet spring! Every note, PLIC... PLOC... triggers the flow of sap from the maple trees!

The sugar season has come...

In March and April, a contagious joy fills the hearts of the locals! The sound of the accordion announces the melting of snow – a sweet tooth and sticky fingers!

It's time to celebrate in the village - and believe that the sun will come and there will be maple syrup all year round on the table.
